things i have written, philosophies i identify with, and things you should know.

No matter what I do to forget

and to cast myself away,

guilt always crashes into me

like a storm destroying a sailboat.

Salt water or salty tears,

I have red-rimmed eyes regardless,

and my guilt-shaken bones

are eating me alive

like a monster, twenty-seven feet long;

a freak of nature.

Often the poor shipwreck of a man

living in my skull

wonders if I should have just stayed,

if my monstrous anger would have

swallowed you up like the sea swallows me.

The ocean paints me on the mast

hanging from a slippery rope,

a sunken pirate,

“I am a formidable monster, I am a formidable monster, I am a formidable monster...”
